Community Living at Its Best: A June Recap and What's Ahead in August at Waverley Greens
Summer is in full swing at Waverley Greens, and there's no better time to look back at a fantastic June while getting excited for everything coming up in August. From blooming gardens to a bustling community yard sale, our residents have been busy making the most of the season — and the good times aren't slowing down.
The Community Garden Is in Full Bloom
If you haven't strolled through the Waverley Greens community garden lately, now is the perfect time. Thanks to the dedication of our green-thumbed residents, the garden beds are overflowing with color and life this season. Tomatoes are ripening on the vine, herbs are filling the air with fragrance, and rows of sunflowers and zinnias are putting on a show for anyone who passes by.
The community garden continues to be one of the most beloved shared spaces at Waverley Greens, offering residents a place to connect with neighbors, get their hands in the soil, and enjoy the simple satisfaction of growing something beautiful together. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just enjoy walking through and admiring the progress, the garden is a wonderful reminder of what community can accomplish when people come together with a shared purpose.
Community Yard Sale a Huge Success
June also brought one of our most popular annual traditions: the Waverley Greens community yard sale. The turnout this year exceeded expectations, with residents setting up tables full of treasures, neighbors browsing for hidden gems, and plenty of friendly conversation along the way. From gently used furniture to unique collectibles, there was something for everyone, and many residents walked away with new finds — and a few new friendships, too.
Events like the yard sale highlight what makes Waverley Greens such a special place to call home: a genuine sense of community where neighbors look out for one another and come together to make great things happen. A huge thank-you to everyone who participated, donated items, or simply came out to shop and support the event.

With June behind us, we're already looking forward to a fun-filled August. Mark your calendars for these upcoming highlights:
Little Float – Saturday, August 1st, Milwaukie Bay Park
Come join Amanda as she helps produce Little Float, now in its second year! This community favorite takes over Milwaukie Bay Park on the riverfront with a party in the park featuring local food vendors, plus a river float from Elk Rock Island down to Milwaukie Bay Park.
We're still looking for volunteers, so if you're interested, check out available 2-hour shifts here.
This event is part of a growing effort to create a fun, family-friendly river festival in Milwaukie. Our community continues to grow alongside downtown, and events like this help build momentum as we push for a riverfront swim dock. Party in the Park is free, so come take a walk down and see what's happening!
